Gary Kirsten set a new criteria of strike rate for T20 selection

The selection criteria for the players in the T20Is will change soon. According to some sources, Gary Kirsten wants to include only those players who have 140+ strike rate in T20 Cricket. 

Pakistan's most successful T20I opening pair Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan both has below 135 strike rate. Both players often faces criticism for their slow strike rates. Although, they have very good batting average in T20I cricket, but their strike rate is not too good as compared to the modern T20 cricket. Pakistan's new opener saim ayub has given many chances, but he failed again and again. He has given the opportunity to utilise the powerplay and score as much as he can to give Pakistan a strong start in T20I cricket.

 But, he completely failed to perform this task. Saim has played 23 T20I matches for Pakistan and managed to score only 309 runs. Saim Ayub has performed in the CPL and PSL leagues, but when it comes to international cricket, his bat completely failed to score runs. Azam Khan is another example. Azam Khan has performed brilliantly in the CPL but he failed badly in the international cricket. He also given many chances but he consistently failed. Now, let's take a look at different stats. Most runs in 2024 (all T20s): 

Pakistan's white ball captain Babar Azam has scored the most t20 runs in 2024 so far. He has played 35 t20 matches in which he scored 1480 runs at an average of 46.25. He also scored 1 century and 13 half centuries. Hendricks is the second player after Babar Azam who scored the most t20 runs in this year. He has scored 1447 runs in 53 matches.

West Indies Nicholas Pooran come at number 3 in terms of scoring most runs in t20 cricket in 2024. He has played 45 matches in which he has scored 1393 runs. But the strike rate at which he is currently performing in t20 cricket in this year is very impressive. He has played with a strike rate of 157.57 so far. 

Most runs by a Pakistani batters in 2024 (all T20s): 

Mohammad Rizwan is the second Pakistani player after Babar Azam who scored the most t20 runs in this year. He has played 33 innings in which he managed to score 1008 runs. But, his strike rate is very bad. He has played with a strike rate of 117.34 in this year's t20 cricket. Usman khan, who has given the opportunity to represent Pakistan on the basis of his great performance in the PSL, has not played valuble knocks for Pakistan. Azam khan's strike rate in franchise cricket is very good. But when it come to international cricket, he has completely failed to deliver with the bat. Similarly, Iftikhar Ahmed has played 25 t20 matches and scored 443 runs at an average 27.68.
