Sri Lanka won by 32 runs against India in the second ODI

In the second ODI, Sri Lanka posted 240 runs on the board. India, who almost won the first ODI, failed to chase this target in the second ODI. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket on the very first ball of the match in the shape of Pathum Nissanka. After an early wicket, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis made a 74 runs partnership. Both the batsman's got out after they sat on the crease. Captain Charith Asalanka scored 25 runs. Dunith Wellalage yet again performed well in the lower order. He made a handy contribution of 39 runs off 35 balls. K. Mendis was also good with the bat. He scored 40 runs off 44 balls. Sri Lanka were 136 for 6 at one point, but both players Wellalage and Mendis helped them to score 240 runs at the end of 50 overs.
India Batting:
The Openers yet again provided a strong start to the visitors. Captain Rohit Sharma scored back to back half centuries. He was playing so good until he decided to hit reverse sweep and he failed in picking that shot. He made 64 runs off 44 deliveries with the help of 4 sixes and 5 fours. He played with a strike rate of 145. Shubman gill made 35 runs. After a strong start from the openers, India's middle orders yet agin failed. Virat kohli failed in back to back matches. Axar Patel showed some fight but he falls to the Sri Lankan Captain on 44. Shivam Dube was promoted ahead of Shreyas Iyer, but he got out on 0. India were consistently losing wickets after the openers gone to the pavillion. Except Axar Patel, middle order failed to perform.
Sri Lanka Bowling:
After a good start from the Indian openers, the match was expected to be finished earlier because Rohit Sharma was playing magnificently. But Jaffery Vandersay finally gets Rohit Sharma. Jaffery Vandersay has been brilliant throughout the second innings. He picked up 6 wickets in the second ODI. He was selected in place of Wanindu Hasaranga who was not playing this match due to injury. But Jeffery Vandersay was exceptional with the bowl. He bowled a match winning spell. Charith Asalanka also took three wickets.
Jaffery Vandersay was awarded with the Player of the match award following his exceptional bowling performance.
