The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka ends with no result

The first One Day International between India and Sri Lanka ends with no result. Both the teams scored equal which means the match was tied.

After a disappointing T20I series, Sri Lanka will feel a little relieved because this match was also going in favour of india. The visitors were on a winning track when Rohit Sharma gave them a powerful start. But, india didn't stopped from losing wickets after the fall of their captain. Sri Lanka scored 230 runs in 50 overs, while india also scored 230 runs and the match was tied at the end. 

Sri Lanka: Batting 

Opener Pathum Nissanka yet again shines for Sri Lanka. He scored 56 runs off 75 balls with the help of 9 boundaries. Sri Lanka failed to build a decent partnership. 

They were losing wickets continuously. Captain Charith Asalanka made 14 runs only. Dunith Wellalage played very well. He made a valuable 67 runs with the help of 2 sixes and 7 fours. Wanindu Hasaranga made 24 runs as well. At the end of the first innings, Sri Lanka scored 230 runs. 

India: Batting 

Rohit Sharma, who had previously announced his retirement from the shortest format, gave india yet another fiery start. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 58 runs off 47 balls at a strike rate of 123. On the other hand, Shubman gill was playing defensively. He was staying on the crease while Rohit Sharma was on the charge. Shubman gill finally took a chance to play a big shot, but he failed. After a Shubman gill got out, Rohit Sharma was got lbw by Dunith Wellalage. Washington Sundar was promoted to bat. But, Akila Dhananjaya didn't allow him to play a big innings. KL Rahul and Axar patel got out on 30s. India were on 211 for 8. Shivam Dube played some confident shots and almost won the match for india. But he didn't finished the match. He was still on the crease when india needed only one run and two wickets in the hand. Dube was trying to take an easy single. But he got out after scoring 25 runs. India were required one run and Sr Lanka were also one wicket away from winning the match. The hosts finally took a wicket and the match got tied at the end. 

Sri Lanka: Bowling

Dunith Wellalage, who played a very hand knock with the bat in the pressure situation, dismissal both indian openers as well. Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed three indian players. Charith Asalanka was came out of the syllabus for india. Just like Suryakumar Yadav in the last T20I. Charith Asalanka took two consecutive wickets to tie the match. First he dismissed Shivam Dube lbw, and then he took the wicket of Arshdeep Singh on the very first bowl.
